As believers we are called to live as Christ in the world by doing the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy... one of which is visiting the sick.
Our Ministries to the Sick and Homebound wish to show love and care for our Catholics who for reasons of health or infirmity cannot be with us as we gather for worship.
Catholics who due to illness or other incapacity are regularly not able to make it to Mass may request Holy Communion be brought to them at home, the hospital or other living facility. The frequency in which we are able to bring Holy Communion to the homebound will depend upon the number of people requesting and the available acolytes.
In Lyons Point, the Homebound Ministry acolytes, Ms. Charlene Hebert & Edith Lejeune bring the Eucharist, news of parish events, and a listening ear every other week to Catholics in the area who are unable to attend Mass.
Our Pastor commonly goes out to visit and brings the gift of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) to Homebound Catholics on the first Friday of the month. However, Homebound Catholics may also request a priest to come hear their confession at other times and especially for an Anointing of the Sick for a serious illness, decline in health due to advanced age, or if undergoing general anesthesia for surgery. If a parishioner has already been anointed for a particular illness or decline in health, they can request again as the illness or cause of decline progresses.
The Homebound Ministry's goal is for any homebound believers, permanently or temporarily, to be visited by an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion regularly.
Please join us in praying for our brothers and sisters who are unable to travel and celebrate mass.
If you know of a believer who is homebound and would like a pastoral care visit, please contact the parish office at 337.783.2968 (if no answer, please LEAVE A MESSAGE - your call is important).
HELP A HOMEBOUND LOVED ONE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE THE LORD!
PS> If you or someone you know would like to assist in this ministry, please contact the Parish Office. 'It is in giving that we receive.'
